OK, so would ya'll still suggest IV meds if I'm feeling better? More energy, eating again, etc.

The only thing that is still hanging on is this congested cough... BUT, even that seems to be getting better and the rumbling isn't happening whenever I breath out.

So, when do you know you should go on IVs after a cold/flu? I mean, if I'm starting to feel better and just have the nagging persistant cough (that is also getting better), how do I know if lung damage is occuring? Isn't it IV time if you DON'T bounce back from a cold/flu? Hmmmm.....

Thanks, everyone.

hi ladybug
hope you are feeling better! i really try to avoid going in as well. I also love to travel and have been put in a couple of scary situations where i have been traveling and got seriously sick and not had access to doctors and a range of meds.

Firstly the most important thing is to have a can do attitude. Secondly i have found that drinking ridiculous amounts of water and im talking bloated feeling LOTS and thirdly i am not sure if you try herbal stuff but there is a product called oregano oil. I am usually a little skeptical but this stuff truly works wonders! It is a natural "anti-biotic" and i find it really helps.

Just remember you know your body best! Hope your feeling better!

Don't mess with this!

I had the flu about 8 years ago despite getting a flu shot <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Anyway, I thought I was about through it and starting to feel better but had a junky cough. We went to clinic and it turned out that I had double pneumonia! I was in the hospital for 17 days and it took me a long time to pull back from that episode.

sonia,

when i am like that, i usually do not do therapy. i know that is a terrible thing--to not do it when i most need it. but sometimes the first few days of a cold/flu are just too awful. that being said, after the horribleness starts to let up even just a little bit, i'm back on the vest more than ever, increasing my time to try to get crap out. maybe doing just HS (no vest) would at least make your cough productive and therefore less painful.

when you do get better... i've been taking this stuff called Wellness Formula for about a year now. it was recommended to me by some other cystics who had seen their cold frequency drop since being on it. it is an herbal concoction of echinacea, vitamin C and whatnot. (you can also increase the dose to take if you are actively fighting off infection.) i've had pretty good success with it. that, along with my probiotic and other vitamins, i think do a world of good for immune function.
