prescription refills

I am pretty organized about things; but, I need a better system for knowing when to refill a med. I have mail order and get a 3 months supply. I just look at the labels and call when I need to. That messes me up sometimes though. I forget to call or there are no refills and I need to get a new script which takes time. Do any of you have a good system for prescription refills?

i use iCal on my mac.... it enter in an item in my calendar and have it pop up a week or so before I need to get it refilled (so I can call in time, etc).

it's a great system.

i also use my iCal to remind me when it's time to start my month on month off colistin, and my billion other meds i take.

i'm on my computer 2x a day while I do meds, so i know i'll always see my iCal reminds. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I wish I had a better solution. It actually makes me feel better though to know I'm not alone.

What I do is I have actually have a hand-written list of all our meds, and I pencil in next to them when I need a refill. When I get the refills then I scratch out the date and write the new one.

We keep his daily meds in a weekly pill tray so when I fill his tray each week I keep an eye on how much is left in the bottles to know when to pull my list out and put in the refills.

However, it is not 100% so I'm still looking for a better option if anyone has one.

My pharmacy has a website where they list the meds, refills left and when they can process the next refill. It there isn't a refill left I can click a box and they will contact the doctor for me to set up a new rx. I just go on there if I am not sure. It also has a detailed history of my rx's as far as what was ordered etc...
