Magnesium supplements can also cause stomach irritation- I just asked my GI doctor about it today, and he said, yes, it can, and no, there is nothing you can do about it except take it with a good sized meal (I had a -now ! - unusual stomach ache yesterday, and I just started the slomag a few days ago ).

Not all magnesium supplements are created equal. I have a difficult time absorbing magox from the pharmacy. I cannot get an adequate mag level on a blood test. If I take standard process calcium lactate (also has mag) in there, I am fine and have proper blood levels.

Too much mag can cause an acid buildup besides a loose stool. Too much mag can wipe out the calcium and too much calcium can deplete the mag. There needs to be a balance. It is wise to buy a calcium and magnesium supplement in one.

I love Kefir too - I buy it plain and add a little honey of fruit to it - yum! Lili's been taking a probiotic from Natures Way. It's a powder and I add it to her soy milk in the morning - we call it extra goodness

Let's see...Slow-Mag has...Calcium- 212mg (21% dv), Magnesium- 128mg (32%) and Chloride 373mg (11%). So I guess that is okay?

(sorry, didn't mean to hijack this into a discussion on magnesium! )
