Pulmicort

I have recently called in a refill of Pulmicort and now, all of a sudden, Medicare (my secondary coverage) denied it & says it will only cover it for COPD. That just doesn't sound right to me.
They covered in Jan/Feb/Mar, but now all of the sudden, they won't.

Just curious if anyone else has had this happen recently?

You dont have COPD anywhere in your history? I do & I would think it shouldnt be difficult to get it done.

To answer your ??.....I dont use Medicare for my meds so cant help ya.

Just an FYI--As for your meds, if you pay for part B, it should cover all nebulized meds and diabetic supplies as long as you have a script for the diabetic supplies & get them through a pharmacy vs. buying them off the shelf.

Finding a pharmacy that will file Medicare as secondary is the trick. Here locally, Wal Mart is just about the only one that will mess with it.

Just an update. My doctor was able to over-ride so I could get Medicare to pay the remaining balance on my Pulmicort. He said I had many symptoms of COPD or something to that effect.

As a side note, my mom has congestive heart failure & also an asthma component, we think, and she is on Medicare and all of the sudden, they wouldn't cover her Xopenex after April 1st. She's working on getting that covered, but I just wanted to make folks (that cared-lol) aware that there were some changes effective April 1st in what Medicare would/wouldn't cover. I thought it was weird that that happened mid-year rather then Jan 1st, but according to her pharmacy that is the case.
