Hi michelle

my nose seems to have a lot of dry blood recently, and i noticed in one of your posts you mentioned that you put carmex in your nose

I put vaseline as this is the only thing which seems to stop my nose bleeds but i know i shouldnt because vaseline can travel to lungs and then cause lipoid pnuemonia

could you tell me whether the carmex seems seems to drip down your throat, and could it cause damage to the lungs if it were to travel into the lungs?

also what carmex do you use, the little tub one or the little lip glodd typa tube?

Thank you

Rose.

I use both. I tend to keep the tube thing in my purse. It is softer and easier to use in an emergency situation at work. If you don't put too much in your nose, it won't go down your throat. I hate it when it does. I hate the taste. As I understand it, Vaseline is basically petroleum jelly. Carmex contains petroleum jelly but also contains medicinal things like menthol which I find helps heal up sores in my nose. If you are concerned about putting it in your nose, then coat the outside of your nose. The tissues there are thin and the medicated ingredients will seep into the tissues and help some.

A couple of other things I would suggest:
Take calcium. It promotes clotting and has helped put a stop to my nose bleeds.

Take sea salt to help support healthy mucus production so your sinuses stay moist. It should cut back on the dried blood in the nose as well. I used to have blood in my nose a lot. It's relatively rare these days.

Thank youu for the other advice, i will look into it

could you also tell me whether if any of these two (carmex or vaseline) travel into the lungs, then would this damage the lungs or cause any problems?

I know you should never put oils into the lungs because it blocks the airways and can cause pneumonia. I am surprised that carmex contains petrolatum. I hate vaseline and always have but I like carmex. I'm not crazy about using anything made from petroleum for my health. So I'm really surprised to realize carmex also contains this (I don't plan to give it up any time soon, if ever). I have never noticed a problem from using carmex. But I'm only a sample of one. I don't know of any studies on such a thing. Sorry I can't be of more help.
