Restaurants: Smoking

We are very fortunate here in Toronto, all of our restaurants, bars, any public area whatsoever, have been completely smoke free for a couple of years now.

I couldn't imagine going into a restaurant now and have someone sitting there smoking a cigarette.

I smoked for 33 years before quitting 5 years ago.

I live in the big tobacco region and its almost impossible to find a good non smoking restaurant. I always like the saying "Having a no smoking section in a restaurant is like having a no peeing section in a swimming pool."

When I first moved to NC, I was shocked when I was asked, "Smoking or non?" My home state of Oregon had banned smoking in restaurants for years.

But really, I am just posting because I recently heard the quote, "A smoking section of a restaurant is like a pissing section of a pool," and thought the comparison was quite apt.

If anyone knows the source of that quote, please let me know.

Ooh, and my campus (UNC-Chapel Hill) and my workplace (RDU airport) are both going smoke-free on January 1st! NC isn't completely bass ackwards.

Another saying that I find "funny" is 'Smokers Rights.' It pisses me off when I see someone driving a car with a smokers rights sticker on there.
