Jane I am so glad to hear you may be on your way to getting some things figured out. We have to proceed with caution on these sorts of 'fringe' diagnosis but I surely hope this is "IT" for you guys. Please do keep me updated on your status. I just went and got my blood drawn monday. Since I have completed 5 weeks of steroids this year I am thinking it wont show much but it will be interesting. I also got a stool culture to see if there is excessive candida or a lack of good bacteria. Unfortunately I had changed my diet for a couple weeks prior to the test so again will be interesting to see but I am not going to proceed with it not being a problem if I dont get something conclusive.
I have been drinking green smoothies and highly recommend the book Green for Life that Mandy recommended to me. Even my husband is drinking them and occasionally my daughter! They ahve regulated my digestion alot.
I also just received the book yeast overgrowth syndrom I believe its called I will post back if it is any good. NExt on my list to read is alkanize or die.
Oh and to answer someone's ? about how to treat it. A major component is diet which for most cf'ers may prove difficult, its difficult for the average person. There are components which you can incorporate easily enough I think. One other think that has proved effective is if your body is acidic get it back into neutral territory. There is also colonics to flush some candida out and prevent some of the 'die off' symptoms. Additionally there are orals you can take such as fluconazole which is hard on your liver FYI.
here is some preliminary info on testing for those interested: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://cftoo.blogspot.com/2010/03/diagnostic-tests-for-candida.html">http://cftoo.blogspot.com/2010...tests-for-candida.html</a>
