Hi Charlie and Welcome!
Wow, my heart breaks for the way you are feeling right now. I hate uncertainty. So I hate what you are having to go thru, waiting until your appt.
Yes, CF can be scary. I was diagnosed at 10 yrs old and it still frightens me that I could get a 'bug' out of the blue and decline quickly. But there are some things I cannot control (which I hate) but I have learned that I have to roll with the punches. I try to be diligent with treatments. That helps and it will make you feel better...if not right now, then in the future (think prevention/maintenance).
And your co-workers are rude for the comment of "being your age with CF". Geesh, glad they work with hearts...not lungs. lol.
If you have any specific questions, please let me know. This is a great website for getting advice on specific things, getting questions answered & venting.
Yes, I have CF, CF doesn't have me. I make it fit into my lifestyle. I'm a wife, a step-mom to 5, a mom to 2 dogs, my husband and I own our own company, I model, I was in the Mrs. Ohio America Pageant, I'm a good aunt, a great friend, a fun daughter, and I happen to have CF.

I wasn't dx until I was 43 and I remember feeling overwhelmed at the time. It does help to know what you are deeling with and manage your health so you don't have infections as often. Going to a good Adult CF clinic should be a help to you.

I don't really know what to say to help calm your nerves because when I was diagnosed (the month before I turned 36) it was just a tremendous relief to me to have an answer. Doctors began trying to reassure me but they obviously didn't really believe what they were saying. It was false assurance. I found it laughable because I <b>was</b> genuinely relieved and didn't need their hollow attempts to calm me down. It was not news to me that I had sinus problems and respiratory problems and so on. I knew that my whole life. I just finally had a name for it -- well, a name better than "lazy", "difficult personality", "you wouldn't be sick all the time if you would just eat your vegetables", and "we can't find anything physically wrong with you. would you like to speak with a psychiatrist?" Being told I had a bona fide medical condition and they knew a few things that might help was glorious news to me. And life with a diagnosis has been about a million times better than life without a diagnosis ever was.

Good luck with this.
