Stem cell treatments for CF?

Ok so even dating back to embryonic stem cell research, and up to now with using stem cells from our own skin cells, I have been hearing a ton of information regarding using these advances to treat many different disease. Alzheimers, parkinsons, heart disease, etc etc. I bought a book for my mother after listening to him on coast to coast radio show about the miracle results they are getting from stem cells with severely bad off heart patients.


So how come none of this is going on with CF patients? IS this going on? How come it never seems to be brought up? Since these stem cells can heal badly damaged heart tissue, you would think the same could be done for the lungs...At least to some extent. Hell even help for our sinuses would be welcome by those with very bad sinusitis.


I have searched on google, and I just get old results back in 2002 and such. Anyone wanna throw me a bone? Are we researching and doing trials with stem cells and CF? Anyone?

I would think they would be working on something...From all the things I have heard about direct injection of stem cells into the brain and into the heart, they are doing amazing things. So if they are not doing the same things with CF lungs, I wouldn't know why not. If we get to the point where there is too few of us to legitimize such stem cell studies, that would be very very very lame.
