Sterilizing and cleaning?

Uli

Hi,
I would also say: Don´t be a germaphobic, let him live a real life!
The only thing I would be careful with is the cleaning of the nebs as he will get every possible germ on it directly in his lungs. In my opinion the easiest but nevertheless safe way to sterilize the nebs is to rinse them and afterwards use a (hot steam)baby bottle sterilizer; the rinse washes away the remaining medicine, the steam (which has boiling temperature) kills germs. Dishwasher and hot water are not hot enough to kill germs.

I am far from a germaphobic. I clean my nebs, but not every day. I do walk around with Purell, but usually forget to use it. I am sure that a few extra precautions on my part would help, but I have never been & will never become (maybe if I did a tx tho) that way.

I grew up playing in rivers, lakes, dirt etc. I wasnt dx until 7 & have ALWAYS cultured PA so I cant say if I did things different PRE dx that anything would be different.

There are places & times for things to be careful. Just remember that even with the best compliance, meds, environment etc.....Lady Luck has a lot to do with things.

well i can say that when i was a kid my parents let me be a normal kid. I did disgusting things just like my friends, like share the garden hose to get a drink, play in a sand box that had hidden treasures from stray cats, pick up dog poop not knowing it was dog poop and not using handsanitizer, ( they didnt have it back then) Here is the most disgusting thing i did with my friends. If we didnt have any money to buy gum we would scrape the gum right off of the street ( even if it was black from being run over) and chew it. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WHAT WAS I THINKING?????????????
But never once did i get sick from any of it.... Thank God
I think kids need to get dirty to a point because you want them exposed to certain germs so their body can build up immunity to it while they are still young. I didnt have any germaphobe issues till a few years ago. Now i keep hand sanitizer in both of my cars, a small one in my bag. I always wash my hands when i come home and as for my nebs.... I let them sit in hot soapy water for 15 + minutes. then I rinse them clean and then boil water and put the side streams in after it comes to a rolling boil, and let the water cool down and then put the rest of the nebs in .It may not be the perfect way, but it works for me.
AS for what i eat, i eat whatever appeals to me. I went on the anti-inflammatory diet and lost a lot of weight and have had nothing but trouble gaining it back. I love sweets and i eat them when i can according to my blood sugars. I have enough limitations in my life i refuse to limit something i truely enjoy (something that may even help me gain weight)
