Vitamin IV's?

When I was on TPN, I also had to inject IV antibiotics. My vitamin levels have always been REALLY low. Eventhough I'm on supplements, my bloodwork shows my vitamin levels are non-detectable.

Vitamins are especially important when trying to get pregnant. Vitamin E is one of the big ones, since it can help you avoid miscarriage. Pregnancy is a lot harder on the body than people realize. It's vital that you are in the best help possible before getting pregnant. Even with supplemental IV vitamins, the majority of your nutrient resources when you're pregnant will go to the fetus. Be very very careful about how much supplements you take, because what's good for you may be dangerously high for the fetus.

There is a practice near us which recommends this for some patients after indepth vitamin panels are done. Dr. Lonsdale's (worked in traditional medicine at the Cleveland Clinic for 25 plus years) "Why I Left Orthodox Medicine" gives his in-depth view and explanation of the vastly untouched and untreated issues of indiviudal biochemistry within our medical system. His ideas about the role of vitamins and mineral in the body is very interesting.

Here is an interesting review of the book http://www.garynull.com/Docume..._Orthodox_Medicine.htm One of his discoveries was that "...some genetically determined diseases were responsive to large doses of vitamins, a phenomenon known as vitamin dependency as opposed to deficiency." This fits CF in my mind.

I think IV vitamin therapy is not off the mark at all and could actually be very helpful as a first line of therapy before other more invasive things as done in certain people, especially in CF teens and adults.

Best wishes on getting pregnant...how exciting!

Thanks everyone for your help! This has been so helpful. Please-keep the responses coming. I think I am leaning towards doing the IV's, but I will let you know as soon as I decide.
The nutritionist is just worried that although my vitamin levels are normal, I do not have a lot of "reserve" & getting pregnant will really suck all the minerals out of me. She thinks some IV vitamin therapy wil give me an extra boost. I just don't know what to do-I have never heard of anyone doing this... Thanks for your help.
