Hi Sonia, out of interest...what do you eat that doesn't work for you (i.e. what did you have bad experiences with)? .</end quote></div>
Well, I have had bananas and seem to get really bad reflux with them (wierd, huh?), pasta (again though the reflux and just too "heavy" for me before a run, milk and cookies (again, too heavy and added to reflux issues), and candybars (with nuts in them) and blood sugars dropped. So, I've tried lots of different things. Peanuts and/or peanut butter bread has seemed to work well, but it gets old eating that 4X a week.
Thank you very much, everyone for such awesome suggestions and letting me know what works for you! Once thing I never tried was protein bars. May have to give them a go.
My biggest issue isnt' so much the blood sugars dropping, but more of the reflux being an issue (and I am on Rx for it twice a day!)...
Lindsey, you had some good suggestions about taking gatorade/water and the Special K bars to curb the blood sugar and yes, I am insulin dependent, but VERY VERY rarely do I take it since I'm so active and it really makes me nervous to take it before/after a workout cause you never know what will happen with exertion.
Anyway, do the suggestions ya'll have mentioned give you GERD? Protein bars, Ensure, etc? I'm mostly worried about that cause that is the worst feeling when you're running and either can't breathe because of the acid buildup or just feel like vomitting cause of being full and the acid building up.
Thanks again, guys!!
