what the H is going on with my neb compressor?

I had a problem with my almost brand new Pari Proneb Ultra being really loud- as in not sounding right at all, but if I smacked it, it quit, so I decided that that was not a good thing! The company that sold it to me gave me a disinfected "loaner" which I wasn't thrilled about, and it took forever to get a replacement. But when I called Pari directly, and let them know what was going on (I also had the #'s off my machine that needed replaced), they sent me out a new one pronto. If you have your reciept, or can get one, you can prove your warranty. They were very helpful!

Sometimes my nebs need the mineral deposits cleaned out- I soak them in a 3 to 1 vinegar solution, and then boil them- clears them right up!

i ordered some new neb kits that arrived today. i filled the cup with my saline and albuterol, turned on my compressor and...nothing. i fiddle with the top, lifting it out of the slots and up and down a little. finally it starts going like normal. tomorrow i am going to try to call Pari. *sign*

Another thing to check with the cups, even if you've boiled them, is to get a needle or straight pin, and poke through the hole where the air comes through. Even with boiling, sometimes the meds can crystallize just enough in there to cause blockage.

Thats funny Im having compressor problems too! My problem is that it is taking me a lot longer to finish my treatments, which that was the case with my old one thats why I got this one and I dont think that I have had this for very long maybe a year. Its not as bad as what my old compressor was but still, it sucks enough having to sit there and then sit there even longer when the thing doesnt work right. Also it seems like it takes a while before it will have the full blasts of mists too, like what Laura is kind of having problems with. I dont get it, I dont want to call and get another one, simply because I dont feel like I have had it for very long. Plus this machine is louder than my old one, go figure. Is it possible that we use them too much to make them give out in a short amount of time?

Im with laura I thought it was my nebs cups too, and I know I know they are past the 6months mark, but as long as the pieces still fit and it doesnt fall apart and the meds still going through it I figure its ok to go past the mark, besides could someone remind me why we have to get new nebs every 6months?

i believe 6 months is optimal but the range is something like 6 months to a year. i, personally, have never thrown out a neb cup after 6 months. they are too expensive. (i pay out of pocket.) i think the idea, jennifer, is that even with boiling and cleaning that after a certain amount of time they won't be able to be cleaned as well so germs may start sneaking in anyway. i'm not sure. cleaning has never been my forte with these things.

Laura, Any feedback from Pari? I have felt my ii has gotten louder only after a couple months of use. We do put these machines through their paces but if they are only going to work effectively for a short bit we need to know and also somethings got to give since insurance only covers one per year for most plans.

Here's the deal with neb cups. actually after using for 6 months everyday a neb cup doesn't necessarily produce particle size as it was manufactured to do so because the little valves start to wearout. Since this is something we can't see - the wearing out of the smallest holes nor the particle size - it is imparative to pitch the neb cup after this type of use.

Now what I do is use about 10 cups for 2 years. Each is getting used 30% of the time so I figure using it for 2 years is okay since it's not getting the daily use it would if I used it everyday.
