I worry so much about the nutrition aspect of CF. When we were looking at how to add calories to our son's diet we decided that the food must be high quality for the body to use it (Lauren mentions organic and it is something to seriously look at). There is plenty of science backing this up but it makes common sense not to put toxins in our body when we have a choice.

True, I mention organics, but that's only in the title. The article I wrote explains what they are and concludes that they are not always the best route. If you read it you'll see why. I'm curious what you meant by plenty of science backing something up. I have plenty of access to scientific stuff, since I'm a scientist , and I have not found anything scientifically conclusive that says organics are simply "better".
You're right about the convenience foods though. They are full of preservatives and things that are tougher for the body. However, I should point out that non-organic foods do not load our body with toxins. I'm not sure what you're basing that on. A lot of the words that you cannot pronounce when reading a list of ingredients are the technical terms for chemicals or molecules. Be careful not to equate the word chemical with toxin. All a chemical really is is a product that results from a change to molecules or atoms. Carbon dioxide for example is a "chemical" that is produced as a result of respiration.
The real thing to stay away from in terms of chemicals is over-supplementation with vitamins. Although we do need to be sure to replace what we fail to absorb, the body receives the greatest benefit from those chemicals as they occur in food. Don't buy into the hype. It can make a person crazy.
Bottom line...EAT EAT EAT and then EAT more, being sure to take enzymes if you need them.
