why is my son exhausted all the time?

i haven't read what others have posted but my first inclination is sinus infection. CFers can get gnarly bacteria in those sinuses and the body fights those infections with the same vigor as in the lungs.

fighting bacteria causes the body to be exhausted.

i would inquire about a G-tube (don't know how young they do those things) if he isn't eating properly. it sounds like he's running on fumes and proper nutrition not only will give him more energy but also will help him fight infections in both his sinuses and bacteria his lungs will inevitably be exposed to.

I was thinking the sinus infection/gunk could be making him miserable. I've been dealing with sinus issues all week long and I can hardly keep my head up. I can't imagine what it must be like to have a "head full of gunk".

The other thing is that you mentioned he's getting his adnoids taken out. A coworker's grandson recently had his tonsils and adnoids removed at age 3 --- his tonsils were so enlarged that he snored/affected his sleeping and also he'd choke on his food --- would have to take teeny tiny bites, would hardly eat anything. After having his tonsils out, he's eating like crazy, growing like crazy.

If I am dealing with sinus issues, I feel worn out and cruddy all day. Add to that a bad night's sleep (which I have heard that adnoid problems can cause), and that might explain it. On a side note, what are they doing about his liver? You need to pursue that, and see what the doctors say. Is he taking Actigall? (generic is Ursidol).
