So I went in today for that interview. The guy was an older man, but he looked identical to Hank Hill (from the cartoon, King of the Hill). If anyone remembers the very old Beavis & Butthead cartoons, he had the same identical face of the older Hank Hill (that never showed bobby or peggy hill).
Anyways I get in there, i'm dressed pretty fly, and I could sense he was ex law enforcement, probably fairly high up too. I told him about why I haven't worked in so long, including education, travel overseas, taking care of two elderly family members, and just taking care of my condition. I explained I was born with a lung based disability, and up untill about 7 months ago, I wasn't able to work. I told him that I had discovered some natural treatments that were much more effective than regular conventional approaches, and now due to that I feel 100%, and would love the opportunity to prove myself and offer all that I have to offer with my education and training to their company. I must have seemed amazingly prepared, because his eyes got a little big at times, but I didn't go overkill. I can imagine he sees a ton of morons come through the door, because I got the almost immediate vibe that he really really liked me and thought I had great composure and speaking/articulation ability.
I started with my D, G, and CCW license, my letters of recommendations (One from a well known detective), my college degree diploma, my honors papers for said degree, my range scores for both 9mm and .38cal, my dept of agriculture psychological evaluation (mandatory for carrying a gun in my state for security), and then all my certifications...I then followed that with the important of total observance of florida statutes 493, 776, and 790, and strict compliance with agency protocol. I then described my internship with the Sheriff's dept, and how I wouldn't hesitate to use physical force if someone wouldn't comply with instructions and were in violation of my clients wishes. I discussed my knowledge regarding pain compliance techniques, force continuum/matrix, and how I was maced 5 times on my internship and was involved in physical conflict.
Basically I carpet bombed him with education, general knowledge, training and certifications, and most importantly, charm and a well articulated humorous interview, so he couldn't say no I made him laugh several times, and I could see I "was in there".
I did not expect him to offer me the position right then and there though, and I was doubly taken back when he started talking about possible MANAGEMENT positions within the company. He said "You seem to be a very bright guy, we have management training positions that act similarly to a foreman on a construction site, meaning the others report to you etc etc". I about fell out of my chair. Just goes to show you how far a ton of charm, BS, paperwork to back up what you know, and articular/humor will get you.
The benefits are rediculous. They have the best in the industry. Matching 401k, and every type of insurance you could think of, including short term and long term disability. He asked me "What shifts can you work, and when can you start (after he explained the different positions offered)". I told him as soon as possible, BUT I have two other interviews in the following 2 days, so I wouldn't be able to let him know untill late thursday or friday, depending on what my other offers were. That's when he started to pimp the benefits of working for them further, to try and sell me on his company more, and it had a good impact.
To tell you the truth, if I didn't have two other interviews set for tomorrow and the next day, I would have taken the offer. The best possible scenario now for me in this field would be if a particular company offered me the position of either executive protection agent (high end body guard), or very high end security such as nuclear power plant - high end corporation where I can walk around with an MP5 assault weapon and wear a vest
I will find out what the other company offers me tomorrow, and the other company after that, depending on their benefits and what they offer (wage isn't as big a deal to me as what exactly i'll be doing and the benefits of course), i'll make the call. I feel very weird. Like reborn in a way. I could be making the biggest mistake of my life, but I know that if I don't move forward and take a risk, I won't be able to get anything further accomplished for myself.
I owe a very large part of me being able to do this, to oregano oil. So anyone out there still wondering, yes i'm still doing amazing, and it has allowed me to get to this point.
Here is a pic of me in all my pimpness for the interview - minus the jacket (notice the cute dog on the loveseat), feel free to print it out and use it for TP if you would like
