Is bacteria only diagnosed in culture? Does the infectous disease dr have to diagnose it? I finished my antbx AND steroids for a regular 'flare up' and I feel worse now than I did before. Now I am starting to have night sweats. I was wondering if this is indicitive. How is it diagnosed?

I am currently taking IV Tobramycin and Ceftazadine. My ankle joint and muscles around the ANKLE started aching. I have had other joint pain in my HANDS while on these drugs in the past. I heard its not uncommon to have this problem while on these drugs. Anyone else experience this? thanks!!!
