    Oxygen

I have only been on oxygen a few times when my FEV1 was in the 40's or lower. I am surprised to hear that docs would put someone on oxygen with a pulse ox of 95 or 96, that really seems like overkill. I was always told that over 90 is okay.

    port incision

Hi there, I did use mederma for my port incision, though probably not as frequently as directed. My port wasn't accessed (for IV abx) right away, and I did use neosporin to help the healing along. I would say that my scar has faded very nicely (it has been 15 mos. since my port was placed.)...

Making the difficult decision not to have children

Hi all, Over the last couple of years, my pft's have gone down quite a bit. This time two years ago, my husband and I had just started trying to conceive. We tried for about 5-6 months, but due to recurrent infections, we stopped trying temporarily. About 6 mos ago, we decided to stop trying...

    Increased ALT

Hi, If you are on IV meds, it is relatively common for your ALT or AST to be a little off. I believe that when it is triple the normal limit is when they get concerned. Your liver may just be having some difficulty keeping up with the infection and/or antibiotics.

    Prednisone for ABPA

Hi all, My doctor is considering (or I suppose giving me the option) of putting me on prednisone (30 mg/daily x 3 wks to start) for borderline ABPA. I have a hx of ABPA (in my teens), and due to a recent decline ( ~15% of my lung function in two yrs) my docs are wondering if ABPA *might* be...

    Port irritation

I have really sensitive skin, so I am always itchy any time my port is accessed. If you are currently using tegaderm, you might want to ask your home care company to try IV 3000. It is much less sticky but still does the job. I am also allergic to chloroprep, so they just use alcohol on me...

    antibiotics allergies

Hi. I am 27 (almost 28!) and have developed some drug allergies as an adult, namely to an IV med called Zosyn. Has she ever been on Levaquin or Cipro (both in the same fam of drugs)? She probably wouldn't be on bactrim too frequently as she gets older, Kids w/CF tend to have more of a staph...
