I think hes only used Ativan for PICC placement, and the only side effect he noticed was somnolence. He's on an unnamed anxiety medication, probably an SSRI, which doesn't seem to be cutting it. Klonopin and ativan were suggested by his nurse practitioner, and I agree with that practitioner...

Xanax isn't a narcotic, although there is a slight risk of dependence (it's a schedule IV). Vistaril is very closely related to benadryl and other anticholinergics. It has it's own list of side effects, which typically are longer than that of benzodiazepines. In my experience anticholinergics...

@ hillthekhore,
You make a good point. If he is unwilling to take a little extra care, or even give up some time with his best friend for the sake of the relationship, it makes you wonder how he will react if the OP's health declines to the point where much more effort is required to sustain...

It's a tough question to answer and it probably comes down to the individual's discretion. There is always the chance for cross contamination, but you can find Pseudomonas (and increasingly MRSA) almost anywhere (the shower is a great place to find Pseudomonas). Personally, I live life to the...

Agreed, and it would seem from his last post that the judgmental tone of many of the replies has driven him from the site. Well done guys.

All the medications you mentioned are benzodiazepines, the main difference is the half-life (the amount of time it takes for half of the medication to be metabolized) and perhaps to a lesser extent onset of action.
Benzodiazepines are commonly used for anxiety, insomnia and seizures...

Well, that's why I said it depends on how much work is involved. As in your case, your work requires a lot of time and so you could not possibly do it for free and survive financially. That may be the case with the CEO of the CFF. It might be an enormous workload and in that case I would not...
