Allergy Testing

Lately I've been noticing an increased shortness of breath & I wonder if any of this could be attributed to allergies.
It could be CF related, but I thought I would get some allergy testing done to see if there's a possibility that part of this SOB is due to untreated allergies (or not).

Sooo, to my original question....I've heard of the skin scratching? type allergy testing & wondered if there are other, additional tests done as well?
And, while you're at it, feel free to explain any levels of pain associated with any of these so I can get psyched up for them <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

I have done the skin scratch type testing, and it really isn't all that bad at all. It's just little pinpricks- the worst part is when one of them starts reacting, and itches! And you can't scratch it! But once they record which ones have reacted, they put the "anti itch stuff" on it and make it all better <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> . They either do it on your arm(s) or on your back (I think it depends on how many things they are testing you for).

I think there is a blood test, but my allergist prefers the skin scratch for accuracy.

It is so worth it! I found out I was allergic to feathers (out went the goosedown comforter! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> ), mold, and goldenrod (related to ragweed). Fall is my worst time.

They did a blood test for me (Boy! was it expensive!!), and i found out I'm allergic to cats, but not dogs....It must be a recent thing with cats, at least within the past 10 years. I don't know if anyone can be allergic to any particular birds (or just goose feathers), but I get occasional sinus conjestion when the room where the birds are stored doesn't get much air-exchange. Didn't have that kind of problem with pillows as far as I recall (we've used goosedown pillows, or blankets)
The skin test I had done many years ago--I felt like a pin cushion!!!

My daughter had the skin scratching done on her back when she was 3, she tolerated it so I have to assume that it can't be as bad as I have heard (although everyone reacts differently).

I asked about the blood test but my dr said it was way more expensive & the scratching was better because it showed how bad you were allergic to the different allergens.
