Help for Fart Odors

there is this thing called an ozone machine, i think, that basically blows ozone into the air and it attaches to "impurities" in the air and causes them to fall to the ground because they become too heavy to float, i know they will kill the potent odors that i have produced in the past, and one of my friends said it took out the "male cat pee" smell out of carpet which is especially potent. From what i hear they are somewhat expensive and i have no idea what they do or don't do for cf lungs but i wouldn't think it would do anything. Hope you get the smell out. Also does the chair have a removable cushion like some couches? if so it'll have a zipper at the back of it and you can just replace the foam cushion inside it and wash the outside cover. it worked for the couch where i spend a lot of time lol.

I notice that my gas is particularly "sticky" whenever I am having problems with my gallbladder.

Sometimes the whole room will just have that fart smell that "clings" to it. I completely related (as many of us do!) to your problem with the chair. One of the things I have done is put a special cushion on my desk chair that has a removable pillowcase over it. That way I can wash the pillow case in hot water and kill off whatever aromatic remnants are on it.

Out in public I carry a purse size lysol spray.

Another thing you might try to is get a carbon brick from Home Depot or something and set it on the chair to absorb the smell when you're not using the chair.

Avoid spraying the cushion with wet stuff like Febreeze or Lysol unless you're able to put the stinky item in the clothes dryer to bake. The moisture can harbor bacteria which may cause more of a stinky problem. Whenever possible, use something dry to neutralize odor--like baking soda, carbon bricks, etc.

Just to clarify about ozonators. They are NOT a good idea for CFers. Also, when the oxygen molecules bond to the molecules that are causing the smell, the result is a free radical. We're not yet sure about the long term effects of those free radicals and what happens when they find other things to bond to. For the sake of your lungs, ozonators (and ionizing air cleaners) should be avoided by CFers.
