HOME IV ??

Mel,

I've had a lot of meds in the "homepump" shown above in Debbi's pics. I'm on some right now. I've had Merrem, Amikacin, Tobramycin, Cefepime and Timentin. I've also had Ceftaz via IV push where I infuse myself with a syringe. I don't really like that option b/c the syringe is big and has to be infused over 6 minutes continuously, which gets difficult to do. I prefer the home pumps. If your carrier doesn't provide them, shop around until you find one that does. You probably don't have to use the same pharmacy you're using right now. There are other options out there.

I've never had the pole at home. There was one infusion center (pushed by my hospital claiming it was the only one that takes my insurance) and they said I had to use a pole. I said NO WAY and took my case to a different pharmacy in my area. And you know what, they take my insurance no problems. Just ask around.

Good luck!

The ones I use are the same ones Amy just posted below. The baby bottles. Baxter Intermates, I think they're technically called. That's what my meds go in.
