I'm joining the iv club later today
Its so odd.... I felt like crap last week, sore throat, was short of breath and tired , low grade fevers etc. Then on Sun. i felt pretty energetic and not as out of breath, i felt pretty darned good and got a whole lot done. Yesterday when i went to call the nurse to request iv's i was thinking do i really need these? I decided to call anyway just in case whatever had me feeling so crappy wasnt done with me yet. Sure enough i felt great yesterday also and got a lot done again. My nurse called me on my cell phone to discuss what iv meds i would be on while i was in the junkyard . Seemed so odd to be walking around the junkyard picking parts, feeling good and discussing going on an iv, but in my life the wierd situations are sometimes the norm for me
Turns out, when i woke up today i am back to feeling tired and still have some throat issues, but dont feel too bad. My nurse is coming around 5 to put my iv ( peripherial) in , till the picc nurse can come tomorrow or the next day to put in my midline.

I forgot to add that come to think of it after i typed all this, i am kind of happy i am going on iv's while i am not too sick, maybe i can get these iv meds to kick some cepacia a$$.
My Dr. did agree to give me something other than the same ol' Tobramycin and Merepenim, which is what she always prescribes every time. I talked to my nurse and told him i want something else other than Tobramycin. I started having issues with light hearing loss in one ear after all the years of being on it and i dont want to go on it again unless absolutely necessary. I know we have an arsenal of other iv drugs so why not go for one of them and give it a chance . She is putting me on Merrepenim and Zosyn, and Minocycline orally .

Good for you for taking control of your care. I think it's a good idea to go ahead with the meds before something gets so out of hand that you have to be in lock-up, or on bed rest or whatever. Also, changing things up on the med combo is probably a good idea. You are definitely an empowered e-patient!
