I battled with this too until I asked myself 'can I still continue in this job for another 5 or 10 years?'. My answer was no, and I decided to make the break, spend a few months to get my health better again and then to start looking for a different field which offers flexible hours and less contact with sick people (I was a school teacher). If you don't HAVE to work for financial reasons its a perfect opportunity. You don't have to just pursue hobbies the whole day, you can start a whole new career that will be easier on you and you will enjoy it again, maybe doing something from home/close to home 3 days a week, or something that uses the internet so you don't actually have to be in an office. Something that you can fit around your needs not the other way around. It sounds like getting that assistant will be good for both of you, actually. All the best of luck
