How do you do them? I have my sodium chloride (0.9%), my syringe...and that's it. Any step by step guides would be great. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I do nasal irrigation everyday.

I bought a device called the Grossan Hydropulse from an allergy site. My insurance covered the $99 cost.

If you want to go a cheaper route, you could use a neti pot.

I don't use salt for my rinse. For awhile I was buying the Breathease powder that came with my machine, but that is kind of expensive. Now I am using a homemade xylitol/distilled water mix.

My ENT told me to use a WaterPik. He gave me a nasal attachment for it and a prescription for some EYE drops for the water. Guess it's like an antibacterial thing or something. I'm to put 2c. lukewarm water into the WaterPike basin, add 1 tsp. salt and 2 of the drops. Then I turn it on and run it through each side, while doing my breathing through my mouth.

Hope this helps!

This is how I use syringe and saline. There is no mess and clean up.

I take a clean glass and add in the sterile saline for irrigation. I add in about a half of a cup. Take the needle off syringe.

I fill up the syringe all the way to the top. I tilt my head back and fill up each nostril then tilt my head in the sink to let the saline come out.

Once you fill up your nostrils, you are breathing out of your mouth because you cannot breathe through your nose. you will see when you practice.

Very simple and easy. I then gargle with salt water and if there is any mucus it will come out.
edited to add:

you do not have to add a lot of saline to get out the mucus. When you blow your nose try and pull back your cheek and blow out that way by opening up your osteum.
