UK: Organs to be taken without consent

People who say this is a bad thing, sorry, they are off balance. When you die, your system shuts down and degrades. WHY, WHY would you take your perfectly good organs to the grave with you and have them rot? Let others use them, and have others pursue life. Even if it is just a small extension of life, it doesn't matter. You would have normally taken your organs into the ground/fire and they would have been 100% useless. It makes zero sense, and when I run into people who are against organ donation, I want to stop them from reproducing and passing on their stupid to the gene pool.

Also, I'm not a hypocrite. I only run off at the mouth regarding things that I pony up for. Aside from CF, I'm extremely healthy. When I die, I will be picked clean of countless helpful organs, that will give others either a life extension, or a bump to quality of life. If you purposely aren't an organ donor, and worse yet, are that way due to religious reasons? Well, you just flat out suck in every way.

I am all for it!
They wanted to do this here too, but there were too many votes against it! (cause they didn't feel like it would be your own choise :S) They are still trying to get it through and i hope it will be soon cause the waiting list is far too long, we just don't have enough donors.

They have this in Belgium i believe, you are automatically a donor unless you have said you don't want to.

I believe it's a good system cause it really makes people think of it. You HAVE TO think of it intead of now when you can leave it and not ever think of it, cause then you'll have nothing to do with it.

Overhere when you are registered as being a donor your family can still say 'no' when you have died... They are trying to change that too.

I hope that gets changed, in Belgium and everywhere. It angers me to no end knowing that my family could go against my explicitly stated wishes.

I doubt I'd actually have to worry about that with my family-- they know my stance on organ donation and have been warned they'll be haunted mercilessly if they don't donate my organs. So, if they value anything in their china cabinet, they'll do it. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

Seriously, though, I know I won't have any problem with my particular family, but that was just the luck of the draw. I could have just as easily been born into a family that was against it for religious reasons or whatever, and even if I didn't share the beliefs and made it clear I wanted to be a donor, they still have the power to say no. That just seems so wrong, to me.
