here's the situation: i have a pari proneb ultra ii that is no more than 2 months old. i have a bunch of neb cups that i use that are at most coming up on 5 months old. (i know you are supposed to replace these every 6 months.) my problem is, when i first turn on my compressor, it sounds as if it is running full blast, but it will take a minute or so to be pumping out the mist full blast! at first i thought it was my neb cups, but it is doing it with all of them and all of a sudden, so i'm skepticle. i also thought maybe it could be the filter, but i read in my manual and the filters are supposed to last for something like 5000 hours of use...i dont' remember the number exactly, but it was a lot, and my machine is practically brand new. ideas?

thanks in advance.

Laura,

Hi! I actually have a fairly new ProNeb Ultra as well and lately when I turn it on it is soooooo loud! I don't think its effecting my treatments, but I'm afriad it will burn out any day. Its also only about 6 months old and the filter looks white and nearly new. Can't for the life of me figure out what happened to make it so loud. I'm thinking of posting on "Ask PARI" to see what they have to say, but am just glad its not really affecting my treatments so haven't posted yet....

So, I know you said yours is pumping full blast in a couple minutes, but at that time does it take the normal amount of time to do a neb? I don't know what to really do either, so I hope someone can shed some light on it. If not, I think we ought to head to the "PARI" section and see what they have to say on the matter.

Hope you're doing well. I haven't posted to you in awhile and don't read blogs, so its nice to "see" you here.

Here are a couple questions that may help diagnose the problem.

1. Did you fill out the warranty card?

2. Do you do most or all of your treatments using this compressor? If so, does the entire routine take more than 30 minutes?

3. When it stops going full blast, does the tubing where it connects to the compressor feel particularly hot?

Those questions are the main ones that PARI is going to need to know, because, unfortunately, it sounds like this isn't just a quick fix. You're going to need their help on this one.

The Pari ProNeb II is known for not being able to handle back to back to back treatments, so if you've done this in the past (see question 2) you may have overheated a connecting wire or something in the compressor housing.

The product guide that came with your compressor says that if it's not working properly, it should be taken to an authorized PARI service center for inspection and repair.

Sorry I couldn't have more info. It should still be under warranty, so I'm pretty sure the folks at PARI will be helpful, especially if you contact them via this site and not their usual customer service line. Good luck getting it worked out.

When was the last time you changed the tubing itself? I had this problem with another type of neb & after changing filters, neb cups etc., it turned out to be the tubing. Just a thought. Hope its that simple! I did get a back up neb at this time tho.......

Is your neb cup clogged? I have that problem sometimes when I am on Tobi, because its such a sticky med. Try boiling it to make sure it isnt clogged.

thank you guys, for your help!

caitlin, i don't think my neb cups are clogged. i boil them regularly.

melissa, i did try changing the tubing and that did not seem to affect it.

light, i'm not sure if i filled out the warrenty card. probably not. i'm kind of down on those since i learned they are one of the top sources for getting your address to send you junk mail. right now my nebs take about 30 minutes, i just do it during my vest. but i am discouraged to learn that when i am on tobi this may be a problem! i will see if the tubing is extra hot after my next treatment.

i think i am going to try another couple of treatments before contacting Pari. that sounds like a mess and i want to make sure its my machine and not my neb cups before doing that.

thanks again everyone!

I had a problem with my almost brand new Pari Proneb Ultra being really loud- as in not sounding right at all, but if I smacked it, it quit, so I decided that that was not a good thing! The company that sold it to me gave me a disinfected "loaner" which I wasn't thrilled about, and it took forever to get a replacement. But when I called Pari directly, and let them know what was going on (I also had the #'s off my machine that needed replaced), they sent me out a new one pronto. If you have your reciept, or can get one, you can prove your warranty. They were very helpful!

Sometimes my nebs need the mineral deposits cleaned out- I soak them in a 3 to 1 vinegar solution, and then boil them- clears them right up!
