So, I went to the school today because Maggie was having a stomache ache(that's another story) and I stayed for recess and then the kids go to lunch...NONE of the kids wash hands before lunch....What is YOUR suggestion. I thought of buying handiwipes for Maggie's lunch box but still...All the...
I just got a few cases of Resource nutritional drink it has zero fat but 9 grams of protein...Do you give enzymes when you drink it? I should know this but looking for what you do...Maggie has been drinking them, they are juice boxes and I give her enzymes but I am not sure if they are...
Hi All,
I was trying to think of something for a fundraiser for CF for our upcoming fall walk. My daughter haas just discovered Silly Bandz; they are colored elastic bracelets in different shapes; which kids are obsessed with. Then I thought, what about custom ordering bracelets for the kids...
I was just reading around and came across info that states Zyvox and albuterol should be used together cautiously, I did not even know this. I guess high blood pressure and heart rate can be raised and need to be watched. Hmm. My daughter is on albuterol at least 3 times a day; 4 if she's...
I got an e-mail from Beth Fritsch (sp?) from the FDA this morning with concern to the Pancrecarb issue, finally. About 2 months after my original e-mail. It was pretty much saying they have found problems with the unapproved enzymes and can not allow patients to take them when there are...
Someone was trying to get me to buy Mila, which is ground chia seed(like Chia pet). It is actually high in omegas and protein and lots of good stuff for CF. Anyone use it or know where to buy it online for less? Seemed very expensive for what it is. I could mix it in oatmeal for my daughter...
Just wondering if anyone has heard if Pancrecarb will be approved by the FDA? I tried to use Zen Pep for Maggie . Gave her half zenpep half Pancrecarb and she had immediate effects that were negative digestive wise. Nausea, stomach aches. Tried to do it one more time this past weekend and...
Yesterday, I picked up my daughter from school. She was telling me about her day. She was telling me about lunch. She said she gave one boy her potato chips, another boy her pretzels, someone else her jello,...Apparently, I must overpack her lunch box<img...
This whole enzyme issue is absurd and annoying. It reminds me of the whole H1N1 debacle. WHat is wrong with our system that takes away a drug; for a very small, sick population to "make it better and safe" when we've already been taking this drug for years...One day it's safe, the next day...
THis is just a quick question. My children and I are going to be volunteering for our local animal shelter. Basically, my daughter with CF (who is 7) her job will be to pet and socialize with cats/kittens. Over the summer, we may do more with dogs...ANything I should be concerned about CF...
My daughter is very good at expressing herself. She has said a couple things that seem older than her years(she's only 7) lately and I guess it is not such a far leap to suggest having a chronic illness has matured her quicker than a child without.
The other day she was telling me about an...
My son without CF had a fever as high as 101.7; yesterday ran a fever all day from 100-101 finally broke, never had a sore throat. He is now fever free but of course hacking and coughing.
Just bracing myself for my CF'er to get it..We had all our flu shots. Do you think it's just a run of...
Looking for some new ideas. We are so busy, with work, school, meetings, afterschool stuff. I need help with good dinners for my daughter with CF; without making us all fat!
Tried and true: We use alot of Barilla pasta that has the high protein, omegas with butter and parmesan. If I am...
I use a big heavy pot to boil my daughter nebs in; every night. It is looking pretty ragged from all the use. How do you get the discoloration off the pot from frequent boils? Do you throw yours in the dishwasher? For some reason the dishwasher grosses me out; just not hot enough..would...
The science fair at the school is coming up. Last year we did a volcano, in fact I think I've made about 3 volcanoes for science projects between the two kids...So I am happy to not be making a volcano this year.
I have a book of science projects, so Maggie and I were looking through them...
Maggie was coughing alot yesterday after finishing 2 weeks of her increases in Bactrim. I had to take her home from school; her cough sounded combo of wet and junky to dry. I gave her LOTS of treatments and VEST and called the doc waited all day for what to do with her. She woke up this...
Is your child on pulmicort nebs; what is their dosage. My daughter takes it twice a day and it is the .25 dosage. She has been on it sionce she was 2 1/2 years old but weighs alot more than she did at 2. Just trying to keep up on her meds<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"...
Just gathering info lately. My daughter has been on Singulair for quite some time. Her dosage is a 5 mg chewable at bedtime. I am getting ready for her next Cf appointment and was wondering if some of her meds need to be adjusted for her weight. Just wondering what dosage your kids are on if...
Just checking to see if the VEST settings get adjusted for age, size weight of child. I will check with our doc next CF visit but my daughter has had her VEST for close to 5 years now and the settings have been the same for a while now. Just wondering if anyone knows.
Thanks
Just a random thought; but my husband and I were noting that our daughter with CF is a solid kid, weight wise right now. Her body has little fat but when you pick her up she feels strong and solid; with good muscle tone. Though looking at her, one may think she is skinny when you pick her up...
