Ladies and Gentlemen,
We have our answer...

Hail to the victors, indeed!

Angela,
I'm very sorry for your loss. I've been praying for Crystal and your family. This is such sad news.
I'll continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Freak accident or not the fact remains that a stingray could behave anyway it wants, and it has a big sharp barb that could pass your ribcage. </end quote></div>
Yes, and so could my family dog/cat act anyway it wants resulting in a freak accident causing my...
Many of us have been swimming with sting rays, including my children. This was not one of Steve's typical adventures. If he'd died from an attack of a croc, snake, aligator, etc. then I would have to say, "Well, he knew the risks."
Thing is, he died from a freak accident. No one in...
Harvey,
When Sean was first diagnosed at 12 weeks old, we were told he cultured PA. I couldn't find any info on it and everytime I asked the Dr. I got the run around. I finally got a resident to tell me something about it but what he told me totally freaked me out.
So, here's what I know...
What supplements does Josh currently take?
We too have struggled with the high fat/high calorie diet. Sean is ~4'3" and 56lbs. He's not completely off the charts but close. He eats sooooo much fat and sugar, I think it's doing more harm than good (i.e. he's not getting enough nutrients). I...
Yes, we have a "parent's group" set up and run through our clinic. The group focus is less on support and more about information. We have a speaker at each meeting. We've had various Dr.'s, nurses, repiratory therapists, dieticians, adult CFers, social workers, psychologists, etc. come to...
A little OT but I thought it was worth mentioning...
Here's an article about glutathione (as generated by N-acetylcysteine) and a clinical trial currently taking place...

Thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately, we aren't going to win the enzyme fight, right now.
Aside from that we've come up with a good list of things to add into our 504. In fact, Sean even helped come up with one I thought was worth sharing...
In our schools, microwaves are not accessible to...

This is soooooooooo exciting.
I'm so glad to hear that everyone is doing well. The babies are so big! I bet they'll be home in no time.
I'm so sad to hear this news. I was really hoping he could pull through.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Mike was truly lucky to have such a wonderful sister.
I said nothing of being ignorant, selfish, or jumping into the decision lightly. I specifically said it was a personal decision and I merely raised a few potential issues for you and your family to consider.
You asked about regrets, decision processing, and advice. I believe I addressed all...
Kimmiek,
Firstly, I am so sorry you are going through this.
I know first hand what a difficult decision this is. In short, you have to do what you feel Mike would want and what you can live with. If you don't, you will carry that guilt around forever.
I wouldn't let the Dr.'s comment...
As has been mentioned, this is a very HOT topic.
Up until last year, I would have been open to the idea of taking the risk and having another child but my husband never was. Over the last year, I've rethought it and I definitely wouldn't do it. This really is your (and your husbands) choice...
Good idea Chris. I've got a meeting with Sean's teacher today so maybe I'll suggest it. First I have to figure out if they'll even be havin snack in the classroom. If not, just another thing for the 504.
We're in a public school so the 504 will apply.
As far as the enzymes go, this particular district is drug paranoid. Unfortunately, they don't differentiate between drugs and meds. A dangerous precedent if you ask me but I didn't make the rules. We've tried to fight against it but our...
It's usually the word for word responses that really bug me. If you want to "ditto" what's already been said just to reinforce the point, then just say, "I agree with what's already been posted".
