To adult Cfers...Do you ever realize....

    Yeah, it's a little fishy.

Luke, I totally agree. Very well said.

Our prayers are with you. I'm sure everything will be just fine.

    Just paranoid?

Just a quick follow-up... We are having our older son retested (sweat test) and a blood test. Seems his pediatrician was a bit nervous about the giant salt ring on the bill of his baseball hat. She ordered the tests to be done through our CF center. I'll let you know how it turns out.

To adult Cfers...Do you ever realize....

I can definitely see how this question might provoke some negative reactions. The question itself is presented in a fairly negative context. I read it as this parent looking for some kind of pat on the back. As a parent, I've always taken care of my children out of love, CF or not. Yes, Sean...

    CF Gene Database

Answered my own question Here's a link I found. The site is pretty dated but has a lot of good info... CF Gene Database

    CF Gene Database

Does anyone know if there's a website that has a list of all the CF mutations they've found to date. I know they're constantly finding new mutations but I was just curious if there was any kind of online database accessible to us.

    CF awareness

Julie, Great Idea! My CFer would be interested in helping out. He's only 8 but is passionate (if an 8 year old can be passionate about anything other that PS2) about CF awareness. He wants his "Make a Wish" to be a PSA about CF. Let me know if you're interested in including him.

    Acne

Although I don't have CF (my son does), I do suffer from acne. I did all the usual treatments and although they'd work initially, the acne always came back. After years of struggling and finally nothing working (even antibiotics), I went on Accutane. It did clear up the existing...

EXTREMELY more sad than I've ever been!

Hi Lindsay, Well there are definitely a lot of people here who know exactly how you feel. It's devistating to hear that your child has CF. You will be sad. You will grieve. Just know that things will get better. Our first year was very tough but we got through it and CF took a back seat to...

    Just paranoid?

I'm looking for some advice/opinions. As you know, my youngest son has CF. When he was diagnosed at 11 weeks we had our oldest son tested (sweat test). He was 2 1/2 at the time and the test came back negative. I don't remember the number and am not sure I ever knew it. CF was so new to me...

    Tom Cruise

One more thing... With regard to Scientology, I'm not into bashing other peoples religions/beliefs but Scientology does seem to have a cult aspect to it. I'm always nervous about religions that are difficult to get information about without buying a book. It seems that if you want to get any...

    Tom Cruise

I'll preface this post by saying that I'm a huge Tom Cruise fan and that I know nothing of Scientology. That said, I do think Tom has gone off the deep end! That's fine if he's in love with Kate (formerly Katie before she started dating Tom) Holmes, but his appearance on Oprah was down right...

    The reputation of this forum

I can see both sides to this arguement. On one hand people are just looking for information so why should we be so curt. On the other hand, we all get tired of answering the same questions over and over. It would helpful if we had "Sticky's" for FAQ and just include some basic CF information...

    Breastfeeding & Emotions

I felt /feel the same way about breast feeding. I'm just not comfortable with it. When both my children were born, my mother-in-law really pressured me to breastfeed but I didn't even consider it. My Dr. was also very upset with me when I told her I wasn't planning to breastfeed. I'm just...

    What do you do?

Spare time? That's funny I'm pretty much of the belief that once you decide to have children, you've also decided to give up your spare time (i.e. "Me time" ) for about the next 18+ years. Sure I get about an hour a day in the...

    Hospitals banning smoking on premisis

My husband works at the Univ. of Mich. Hospital and they banned smoking on the grounds (except in one designated area) quite some time ago. Unfortunately, the hospital doesn't really enforce it unless it's with regard to employees. However, my husband has no problem telling anyone that it is a...

    Baby with CF

I can understand your fears. The first few months/year after diagnosis can be tough. I gets better though. You get into a routine and before you know it CF isn't as overwhelming as it once was. Gene therapy is promising but still several years down the road. Our Dr. is telling us it's still...

    gluconutrients

I agree with miesl! Why don't any of these "supplements" do a double blind, placebo controlled study? All they refer to is their own research and testimonials. Our CF clinic repeatedly issues warnings to all of their patients to stay away from cures, supplements, etc. that have not been part...

    Anonymous posting vs. Logged-In posting

I don't mind if people are posting anonymously if they put their name in the post. And of course, we all forget to log in once in a while. But it does seem that a lot of anonymous posters are promoting a product or just coming on to flame people. There have been plenty of times where I've...
