If you read my FIRST POST to this thread you will see that I tried to help and support Sara.
Sara is on track to end her life through self neglect. If you, or others, wish to support that, God bless you. I will have no part of it.
Not one single CF or other patient likes or...
Coughing in CF patients is a good thing and should not be repressed. Hopefully she has a productive cough and is coughing up mucus. If it is an infection, there will be a fever. Deal with a fever differently.

A belly xray would show a build up of stool on your colon. The following assumes that they did not do that. Mucus is like a glue and attaches itself to the walls of the colon. Stool will then attach/mix with the stool and continue the build up. Because it attaches to the walls you will still...
Sara, you tell them. Who the hell do they think they are? If you have CFRD or if you get CFRD that is your business and if you die, you die. Someone will post a notice here asking that we will pray for you and you will have a nice funeral. Your friends will all say how wonderful you were...
The fecal elastase test measures the amount of fat in the stool. The fat is undigested, therefore determines a lack of pancreatic enzymes. You cal also watch for stool that floats and may have an oily residue.
In my case, I initally lost some pancreatic function as a result of the many...
The "3 foot rule" is sufficent between CF patients. Cepacia is a different issue. This has the ability to be carried and transfered by other people. Other classmates or teachers. That is why your CF Doctors, Nurses, etc gown up.
If I were you, I would have my child transfered to another...
When I was younger and still had SOME pancreatic function, I could skip a meal without a problem. Now I can't skip a cookie without a pill.
So the answer is YES, he can skip a meal and still be PI. To test, stop his enzymes until he is in pain.

Before I was dx with CF, I tested positive for sorosis (sp) of the liver and was accused of being an alcholic. Liver damage in CF patients can be caused by mucus just as pancreatitis and CFRD are. If you can "control" mucus with Toby, Pulmizyme or Sailine the liver damage will self correct.

I appreciate your confidence in me.
First I want you to google Steven D. Freedman , MD, PhD. He is a CF, GI Specialist. I can tell you that he is the best CF, GI Doctor in the country. He is a regular presenter at the Annual CFF Conference. Your Doctors at your CF Clinic will...
You have the right to refuse any test but you need to know that you do so at your own peril.
CYSTIC FIBROSIS RELATED DIABETIS is no joke, and you could pay a very dear price for your refusal.

Glucose will not hurt your pancreatis but mucus will. They want to test you for CFRD. If you have a pancreatis problem (mucus building up on the pancreasis) then you are on track for CFRD. You are NOT doing yourself a favor to refuse this test.
I know, been there, done that.

Leah:
I have reconsidered my last two answers. I would suggest that you see Steve Freedman at Beth Israel. If you don't know who he is, google him. All the CF Doctors at Children's know and work with him. It is not suprising that, as you get older you begin to have GI issues.

When I was first tested in the late 90's they tested for 250 mutations. In 2011, when I was restesd, I was tested for almost 2000 mutations.
97 is an unbelievable small sample and I would consider it worthless. Of course he can have two mutations outside of the 97 that were tested.
You need...

The way that it was explained to me is mucus is the cause of most CF problems. It is like a glue and among other places attaches to the sides of the colon. Stool then sticks to the mucus and builds up there.
By taking marilax on a daily basis I lost (no joke) 4 inched on my gut and...
