I need the drugs, but do I have to stay?!

Be sure to stress how very compliant you would be at home, not just with the meds, but with the prescribed rest. Quite frankly it sounds like you won't be doing much of this if you are running around after two small kids. Can they go to day care at least a couple of days per week to take some...

    exercise and the heat

When I was younger my pedi CF doc told my mom to add a couple shakes of salt to a glass of juice. I drank gatorade, too, but never liked it enough to drink it all the time in the summer. Now I take salt tabs, which I would have loved as a kid because they are pretty yummy.

Getting it all in a day...

I strongly prefer nebulized albuterol to my inhaler for treatments. I have an inhaler to help me get through the day, but I don't find it nearly as effective. If the albuterol makes you shaky, try xopenex. Same thing, but without the side effects. It might cost a little more depending on...

    Aspergillus

I have grown aspergillus on and off over the years but I don't have ABPA. If I had an exacerbation at the time, the docs treated both the mold and the MRSA because either one could be causing the symptoms. If you are still symptomatic after the antibiotics, trying antifungals seems like a...

    Swim team

It depends on the person. I have seen on this forum that some people have a really hard time breathing in in the warm, humid, chlorine-filled air. I didn't at all growing up. I was a regular fish and my docs were pretty ticked when I dropped swimming. I guess there is the risk of mold or...

    ABPA help

Have they checked the levels of VFend in her blood lately? 40 mgs is a tiny dose (the pediatric dosing is 4mg/kg every 12 hrs). With our overactive CF livers, if anything we often need an extra large dose. I have to take 400 mgs BID instead of the 200 mgs recommended to maintain therapeutic...

    Vfend

I've been successful in warding off most sunburn by reapplying sunscreen frequently, as in every 15-30 mins. It's annoying, but last summer I kept burning/peeling/scabbing which really hurt. Eventually I built up enough of a base tan that I could get back and forth to work (my only real sun...
