I have MRSA as well. Got it at 16. I think if they are both healthy individuals, I think the risk of giving them MRSA is far less for two reasons. One, they're less likely to get it, because their immune systems are better equipped to deal than yours or mine. And two, if they do get it, it won't...
I never had clots with PICCs, but I got mechanical phlebitis every single time I had a PICC placed. It was not worth it. I had a port placed 2 years ago, and I love it. The surgery and recovery wasn't the most fun thing ever, but it was totally worth it. I have to access it once a month to flush...
I find myself waking up a lot. Several times a night, usually. Right now it's even more due to personal issues on my mind, but I rarely sleep soundly through the night. And no, I'm not on oxygen.
I have one suggestion. Don't take anyone's crap. Stick up for your son. And then he'll learn to stick up for himself. My mother did it until I was able, and now I do it for myself. Even though she still backs me up. Never take anyone's crap about the CF. Ever.
Well I'm reaching for 21 with CF and I had it when I was 2 days old. The meconium is the plug that babies have when they're born. Their first bowel movement, only it's not normal. The meconium ileus is when after the baby is born, they don't pass this plug. 2 days had gone by since I was born...
Also by the blockage at birth. When I was born they hadn't determined which gene caused CF yet (that makes me feel old!), and they knew for me because I had meconium ileus and then at 6 months (back then they couldn't do sweat tests in anyone younger than 6 months-- also making me feel old!) I...
Well I can't help with most of this except the question # 3. I do IVs at home myself, and have since I started them 4-5 years ago. Even this question I can't help with much, because though I worry about doing something stupid, it's my own health, not someone I care deeply about. However, my...
I know this won't help.. and is pretty useless information, but the last post REALLY pissed me off. Not because of the poster or anything, just what the birth mother said. I understand the point, but it really pisses me off.
"The fact that we have given birth, is infact, the reason why we have the ultimate responsibility to ensure the well-being of our children."
I would just like to make a random point... giving birth is a very cool thing most women can do, but it is not the only thing that gives responsibility to...
As long as you're not forcing the 10 year old to do the 5 year old's meds, then it works for me. Haha. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">
It changes person to person, but I've been doing it myself for quite some time now and I'm still doing fine. I don't think it's fair, however, to make the 10 year old do it for the 5 year old. I think doing her own meds is fine, and she won't resent that, but if you're making her set up the 5...
Pseudmonas grows anywhere warm, especially anywhere warm and wet. It's impossible to keep it entirely away. Cleaning may help, but it's likely not to get rid of the problem.
